I wrote today’s round up watching my youngest son playing cricket and it made me think that the different formats of the game that now exist are very much like investment funds! You get some that are more Test Match and build their innings like an opener spending time at the crease and not giving their wicket away.
Others, are more like the T20 blast and there is excitement as batsmen hit 6’s and 4’s around the ground to be greeted by cheers and fireworks – but be warned more probably fail and are out for single figures than get a 45 ball 100!
At this point I am sure that you may be thinking that my preference is for Test Match and playing the long game – well for the most part it is but theres always a place for T20!
Below is an example of two funds we continue to recommend Capital Gearing is the Test Match and HgCapital is the T20; both have outperformed the FTSE-100 over the long run. Its easy to get attracted to the T20 (HgCapital) for the excitement but that can be short lived – be a real Cricket lover and embrace all formats of the game!
